Matthew Contois is from Grand Rapids, Manitoba and started learning fiddling at age 12 in the Frontier Fiddling Program. He has participated in numerous competitions, and square dances and now teaches the Frontier Fiddlers, as well as a fiddle program in Nelson House. In 2006, he was invited to the Grand Masters Fiddle Championship in Nepean, and, in 2007, he performed for the Métis pavillion at Folklorama in Winnipeg.
